Not with amazement, it were the counties around the most powerful and central Province that prefered to maintain the political liaison with the Emperor Natesta. In exchange of maintaining under control (by law and/or by force) these territories, they demanded great power. Hence the concept of historians that the Empire of Estontetso was formed by more or less autonomous kingdoms, even though all the laws were emanated from the core of the Empire. Comes from this time the basis of nowadays administration structure of the Federation.
Some of the counties, mostly by marriage between heirs, merged with others with some common ethnical background. This would happen only within the "Faithful Cluster", though, in an attempt to prevent attempts of separatism from problematic areas such as the South of Empire.

In 579 BP Gorami declared its independence, which it maintained for nearly 500 years, and conquered western part of Arrebarbadera, the eastern part of which is attached to Bezana-Buba.

Excursus: The Imperial Field Headquarters[]
During the war, the armies covered wide distances, and the leadership had to accompany the armies. When the Liliani emperors or the emperors of Estontetso moved around, they needed a lot of infrastructure to maintain control of their army and their empire at the same time. In the course of all the campaigns, the organisation of their "mobile household", the so-called Imperial Field Headquarters, developed into a highly efficient organism.

In 138 BP, Estontetso suffered a popular revolution, and the Emperor was overthrown. The new government immediately proposed peace. New borders were established. The new government permanently renounced all claims to territories south of its borders, but turned its attentions northwards, reconquering the Duchy of Caritas, a campaign completed in 136 BP[4]
In 57 BP, western Arrebarbadera was back in Estontetso, after the revolt of the Kerzehnoquis. They were incited by the Emperor to take revenge, and managed to conquer eastern Gorami. The province of Goranostr was created. In 56 BP, Garrafão was reconquered. Alarmed that the next move could be towards the east, Neoliliana and Gorami established an alliance and married their prince heirs, thus uniting the two kingdoms.
The Plague in Estontetso - 20 BP-1 AP[]

Main article: The Plague
The year 97 BP is considered when the Plague originally began on the island of Ptica, in the Demisec Islands. The first sightings of it are from around 20 BP. Gradually it spread, first to Eras and then to Longerath. The Plague peaked around 12 BP. By 3 BP, governmental and scientific leaders were beginning to realise just how terrible the Plague could become.

Migrations during the Plague
Being on the central are of the Western Continent the effects of the Plague were considerably nasty, and determined a series of migrations within the south of the territory. In the picture right the blank areas show where became deserted lands, while the sense of the migrations is shown in black. For instance, the Kerzehnhoquis in the mountains benefited from their isolation and weren't as affected as, for instance, Botabaixers were. They were invited by the Emperor to occupy the Valley of Nixo (nowadays Antónia Pucarina of Anichados). Meanwhile, groups of Western Goramians seeking escape from the Plague eventually got to take their place in the mountains.

Migrations after the Plague
The Plague was particularly devastating for the Zebornati and Inquantolastanis, and as in that time an expedition of Iparalaspuquis accosted on the beaches, the Emperor granted that land to settle. Undekestanis virtually vanished, and to repopulate these many Quandukstanis came. The territory was renamed Province of Semprakistão.
In northern Estontetso the ethnic balance suffered no change whatsoever.
There was an area that passed uninjured through these five years of horror: The Val da Krosta valley, where an autonomous republican state was proclaimed. As it swore alliance with Estontetso, they managed to maintain their independence, and is today a world-wide famous tourist resort.
From the Fall of the Empire to the Kingdom - 1-97 AP[]
The Plague had "shuffled and dealt again" in what concerned the administration of the Empire, with the great chaos occurring. Therefore the administration started to get very centralised and, as in any other empires, the concept of "Nation-State" was elevated to be one of its pillars. Obviously, any form of autonomy was seen as secession, and the puzzle of peoples within the empire were to be "standardised". This policy almost destroyed the richness brought up by the different cultures put together and interacting. At the end, this lack of respect for the various cultures was the main reason for the implosion of the kingdom yet to come.

In this context, 27 AP[5] saw a great administrative reform, with the creation of the Provinces of Kerzenhoca, Bezana-Bubadera, Botabaixo and Ressacadatosga.
95 AP, in the Treaty of Bedumília, the Empire of Estontetso agreed to stable frontiers with the United Kingdom following meridian 30° W, and with Dascunya and Phenixia following parallel 0° (equator).
Not long thereafter, in 97 AP, the Empire is officially dissolved, followed by the proclamation of the Kingdom of Estontetso (October 5th).
