Social Stratification[]
[TECH: Data from the book "Kaiserdämmerung" by Rainer F. Schmidt p. 233 ff.]
The social structure of Estontetso, as its technology, remained stuck in the form of 120 years ago when the nobility and the military had great political influence. The Civil War and ensuing republican constitution have not developed enough drive to wash a lot of middle class, let alone lower class people up into the determining circles.
Nobility[]
less than 1 % / 1 mill. of the population
Noble and/or wealthy families form the determining leadership stratum:
- large landowners
- selected tycoons
- members of the federal and republican governments (disempowered in 321)
Grande Bourgeoisie[]
Enormous wealthy gentry, close to the leadership but not participating in their political power, live like nobles, but adhere to economic and not to noble rules, in kingdom times refused nobilitation:
- tycoons and managers of the coal & steel industry and the banking sector
Middle-Class Intellectuals[]
6 % / 7.0 mill. (incl. aforementioned gentry)
Functional elite, a third coming from lower classes, marry across class barriers, trust in authority and worship the military:
- university graduates
Petty Bourgeoisie[]
8 % / 9.3 mill.
The service industries:
- craftsmen, retailers, innkeepers (1/4)
- "white collar" employees, lower officials, journalists, artists (3/4)
Lower Classes[]
84 % / 97.4 mill.
- industrial workers
- impoverished craftsmen and smallholders
- large parts of the peasant population
- the poor, homeless, unemployed
